Construction on a $70 million entertainment destination in Delta is set to begin.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure approved the civil works plan for Cascades Casino Delta, a mid-size gaming and entertainment facility.
The casino redevelopment will take place on the 11-acre site of Delta Town and Country Inn, near the south end of the George Massey Tunnel, next to the interchange of Highway 99 and Highway 17A.

Demolition and construction will be carried out by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment and is supposed to begin within the next few weeks.
The new casino is expected to be completed and open in 2020.
“We are very excited to finally be starting construction of the new Cascades Casino Delta,” said Tony Santo, Gateway’s CEO. “We look forward to bringing this state-of-the-art entertainment destination to such a vibrant and rapidly growing community.”
The project calls for a total floor area of approximately 161,000-sq-ft, including a 42,227-sq-ft casino floor and 124 guest rooms within an attached five-storey hotel building.
The casino floor area is roughly the same as the now-closed Edgewater Casino location within the Enterprise Hall building of the Plaza of Nations and will include up to 500 slots and 24 table games.
Dining features will include Match Eatery & Public House, Atlas Steak + Fish and The Buffet, all signature restaurant brands for the Gateway company.
Each restaurant will be approximately 5,000-sq-ft and Match and Atlas will both have a seasonal outdoor patio.
The project is designed by IBI Group Architects.

Gateway currently owns 27 gaming properties across British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta, including 13,877 slots, 85 restaurants and bars, and 561 hotel rooms.
Within the province, Gateway has launched the Cascades brand in Langley, Kamloops, and Penticton.
